John has over 25 years experience focusing in health care law.  The scope and nature of John’s experience in health care and compliance matters cannot be adequately summarized in a single post.  In addition to being a specialized health care attorney since the early days of compliance and health care fraud, John is also certified in health care compliance and in corporate compliance and ethics.

• Formation of Ambulatory Surgery Centers and representation regarding exclusion of physician investors based on Anti-kickback Statute compliance issues.
• Representation of alcohol and substance abuse rehabilitation providers on a variety of matters including special protections on substance and alcohol patient information and a variety of other regulatory, legal and operational issues.
• Creation of clinically integrated health care networks and accountable care organizations including structuring of a Medicare Next Generation ACO participant.
• Representation of providers in fraud and abuse matters including internal investigations, self-disclosure to the Federal government and defense of regulatory enforcement actions.
• Creation of compliance and ethics programs for a variety of health care providers, conducted compliance program effectiveness reviews and audits, conducted internal investigations on various compliance issues.
• Assistance in obtaining or retaining certification under the Medicare program representing a variety of provider types and health care facilities.
• Successfully represented providers in connection with investigations conducted by the Office of Civil Rights relating to HIPAA issues, Affordable Care Act Section 1557 discrimination.

John is certified in Health Care Compliance by the Health Care Compliance Association and a large portion of his practice focuses on health care compliance.  He has also been involved in the creation and operation of provider networks and clinically integrated provider systems going as far back as 1990.  His 25 years of experience in provider integration gives him a depth of perspective in clinical integration and managed care contracting that can be matched against any other health care attorney in the country.

John is an accomplished speaker on various healthcare matters. He routinely presents to various organizations on healthcare issues.  He has also presented to the Health Care compliance Association and various other organizations on topics relevant to the health care industry.
